Cheapest test that includes it£49.00Iron Blood Test at Goodbody Clinic, all-in with a home kit
Tests compared23from 6 providers, checked 29 October 2026
What it measures
Total iron binding capacity (TIBC) shows how much iron the blood could carry if all its transferrin, the main iron-carrying protein, were full. It is an indirect measure of transferrin and is read alongside serum iron and ferritin.
Why people test it
Part of iron studies, used to help tell low iron stores from other causes of anaemia.
Checked when low iron is suspected, since TIBC tends to rise as iron stores fall.
Used with serum iron to work out transferrin saturation.
Cheapest first, whether the test is of TIBC alone (marked "single-marker test") or a panel that includes it. Each price is all-in: the test and the cheapest way to have the blood taken that suits this marker, before any discount code.
