What it measures
This test measures 25-hydroxyvitamin D, the form of vitamin D stored and circulating in the blood. It reflects vitamin D from sunlight, food and supplements over recent weeks and is the standard measure of vitamin D status.
Why people test it
Checked when low vitamin D is suspected, for example with little time outdoors or skin usually covered.
Measured with bone pain, muscle weakness or bone conditions such as osteoporosis.
Checked in people with darker skin, who make less vitamin D from UK sunlight.
A finger-prick sample is usually fine for vitamin D.
Every Vitamin D test, cheapest first
Cheapest first, whether the test is of Vitamin D alone (marked "single-marker test") or a panel that includes it. Each price is all-in: the test and the cheapest way to have the blood taken that suits this marker, before any discount code.
